Analytical Firms and Peer Review Programs Position Trellix to Lead the XDR Market

What an exciting year it has been. On January 19, we began a brand-new adventure, combining the expertise of two brand icons, McAfee and Fire-Eye, into one major global market leader: Trellix. While our name is new, our decades of experience on the frontlines of cybersecurity and our first year of remarkable success position us as one of the largest cybersecurity companies and one of the most comprehensive extended detection and response (XDR) platforms in the world by the analytical firms such as Gartner, Forrester, IDC, and others.

On the cusp of 100 days in my role as the Director of Analyst Relations at Trellix, I have completed an inventory of all Trellix industry recognitions published by the analytical firms based on the acquisition of McAfee and Fire-Eye which now constitute Trellix’s native XDR product portfolio.

The results of this inventory demonstrate that Trellix comes to the market as the only XDR vendor being recognized by the analytical firms and peer review assessments in all the main XDR front-end components including Endpoint Security, Network Security, Email Security, Cloud Security, and Data Protection - positioning Trellix quite uniquely amongst all other XDR vendors.

Why should XDR decision makers consider Industry Reports and Peer Review Assessments?

Traditionally, end-users and decision makers have relied on the industry reports published by the analytical firms to shortlist the vendors that will be the right fit for their organizations. At Trellix, we believe that customers should not rely only on these industry reports, but also consider the collective analysis from industry reports and the peer review assessments to allow for a more holistic and objective representation of vendors.

Before we dive into Trellix’s recognitions, let’s understand the differences between these sources of end-user decision making:

Sources Description Pros Cons

Vendor Assessment Reports

Vendor Rankings: Based on specifically defined evaluation criteria related to the vendors’ business and technical capabilities (e.g., Gartner Magic Quadrant reports).

Vendor Listings: Based on the vendors product capabilities, mindshare, and revenues (e.g., Forrester Landscape reports).

Focus mostly on the large enterprise.

Based on a rigorous methodological evaluation.

Limited relevance for organizations of all sizes (Mid-size and small).
Based on the assessments and opinions of a group of industry analysts with limited visibility across all the participating vendors and end-user. requirements from all regions.

Market Participation Reports

Vendor comparative analysis based on the vendors’ revenue reports or estimates.

Inform customers of vendors’ market share and viability in the market.

Covers a larger group of vendors.

Lacks vendor comparatives.

Peer Review Assessments

Peer Review Assessments are feedback from end-users based on their experience of using the solutions from real-world implementations (e.g., Gartner Peer Insights).

Large datasets consisting of end-user reviews.

Reviews based on real-world implementations.

Visibility and comparatives limited to participant vendors.

What makes Trellix’s industry recognitions unique in the XDR segment?

Trellix’s recognitions in Industry Reports and Peer Review Assessments related to the XDR front-end components validate that the company is well positioned to lead the XDR race for the following reasons:

  1. Trellix meets all the market definitions and product criteria specific to the XDR front-end components established by the analytical firms.
  2. Trellix integrates, correlates, and contextualizes native telemetry from multiple XDR front-end components that can add to a greater whole compared to what individual items provide on their own or through a 3rd party.
  3. Trellix consolidates many native XDR-front end components adding value, usually measured in discounts, integration efforts or support issues.
  4. Trellix is a well-established and financially viable vendor across all XDR front-end components segments.
  5. Trellix XDR front-end components have been widely implemented and these real-world implementations have been reviewed by users and reviews moderated for authenticity by the analytical firms.

The following table presents some of the most prominent and recent Industry Reports and Peer Review Assessments across the XDR front-end components published or moderated by the analytical firms:

Trellix’s ongoing commitment to support customers
