[ATD-3200 4.14] Can´t create cluster (please add primary node first in lb cluster)

Jump to solution

Hi everyone,

I have 2 ATD-3200 4.14 that must work in cluster configuration. I read the documentation and I followed the steps, but for some reason we are getting the message "please add primary node first in lb cluster" when I try to configure the secondary node. I already configured the primary node (10.70.9.32) and following the instructions, I must configure the secondary node providing the secondary node ip address (10.70.9.33) and selecting secondary from the drop down list, but I get the message mentioned previously. Default cliadmin password was already changed. Screenshots attached.

Any recommendations?

Thank you!primaryprimarysecondarysecondary

Hello guys,

My colleague opened a case and a specialist confirmed that some certificates to establish the load the cluster are missing. So he recommended to update both appliances to confirm if the certificates are created. If that fails, we are going to have to reimage our ATDs. Anyway, I really appreciate your help and I hope this information may help someone with a similar case.

Regards,

Hi Flagos,

You need to add the backup or secondary in node 10.70.9.32, where you added the primary.

Hope this helps,

Hi hsadi,

Thanks! I misunderstood that the secondary ATD should be configured in the secondary appliance. After doing it in the primary, it worked. However, after primary and secondary ATD are listed in the Cluster configuration, I set the cluster ip address but I get an error stating that @"10.70.9.32 (primary ATD) - config upload in progress". I checked using lbstats and the cluster looks fine, but the cluster ip address doesn't appear listed. Do I have to wait for a specific period of time before trying to set the cluster ip address?.

Thanks!

Hi Flagos,

You don't need to enter the cluster IP when you have Primary/Secondary cluster setup because there won't be a failover when the Primary goes down, but the Primary IP will act as the cluster IP in this mode.

The cluster IP is only needed in Primary/Backup cluster setup.

So, the steps to create the cluster is as follows:

1 - Enter the Primary node, when it shows green

2 - Enter the cluster IP, when successful

3 - Enter the backup node, when it shows green

4 - Enter the Secondary nodes...

Please mark this as resolved if you are happy with the solution.

Best regards,

Hi again hsadi,

I just followed the steps you provided, but I´m getting the error "lb services not responding at primary". Screenshot attached. I also uploaded an screenshot of the cluster configuration that was working in the older ATD-3100 that were installed. I just want to get the same configuration, but for some reason the new ATD-3200 are unable to sync. I really appreciate your help with this problem and I´ll look forward for any other recommendation you could provide.

Hi Flagos,

Do you get the error when you are adding the backup node?

Try to erase the cluster configuration from both nodes and then recreate the cluster again

The steps:

These steps will clear the cluster config.

Clear lb config from Primary and Backup nodes through CLI, by typing this command

#clearlbconfig

Do the same thing on the Backup node

Then recreate the cluster, by performing these steps:

From Primary node, type the Primary IP and add node to cluster

Then in Cluster IP address, add the cluster IP and click Save

Then finally add the Backup node

Hope this helps,

Thanks @hsadi,

Do you get the error when you are adding the backup node?

Yes, but I also get an error when I add the cluster IP (10.70.9.32 - config upload in progress). Please see attached screenshots.

I just did it all over again using the command and steps you provided, but I get the same result. I took screenshots of the whole procecure.

Any other recommendation?

Hello @Flagos

"LB Services not responding at primary" - means lbservice is not running at primary or not reachable (from a backup?)

You're using the same IP addresses for old and new cluster - are the old cluster down, isolated or disconnected? Make sure that the old cluster is not reachable when you configure the new cluster on the same ip addresses.

Can you provide output of lbstats and "services status all" from both primary and backup in a new cluster?

Hi @fw_mon,

Yes, we are using the same IP addresses for the new ATD-3200 cluster:

Primary: 10.70.9.32

Backup: 10.70.9.33

Cluster. 10.70.9.34

The older ATD-3100 cluster was replaced in the rack by this new one. So, It´s no longer connected to the network. Please see attached screenshots with the output you requested.PrimaryPrimarySecondarySecondary

Thanks!
