KB91257 resolidify all drives?

Jump to solution

Per KB91257 I need to resolidify after updating to MACC 8.2.6. Does only the system drive need to be resolidified or do all drives, including data drives that do not have OS files, need to be resolidified?

As the KB is related to Windows update, re-solidifying the system drive should be enough. But surely there is no harm in re-solidifying the already solidified drives except it takes some additional time.

Hi there,

You'll need to re-solidify every drive currently solidified.

Systems that are in production are at risk of having unwanted files on them, files that were added post-deployment--files that are currently being blocked, protecting the system.  Isn't resolidification going to solidify those unwanted files?  If so, how do we prevent that?

you could resolidy c:\windows\ or c:\windows\system32 as a workaround after upgrade. but you could get things that were not tracked properly due to hardlink issues.

If you have gti/tie reputation will help with not allowing things that shouldnt run. Same with your rules for ban.
