Hi @shed

Using KB83203 as an example, you can set the MACC product to DISABLE mode via registry.

Place MACC in Disable mode by performing the following steps:
  1. Boot the system into Safe Mode (press F5 before the Windows boot screen).
  2. Open the Registry editor. Click Start, Run, type regedit, and click OK.
  3. Navigate to the following registry key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\swin\Parameters]
  1. Double-click DWORD RTEMode and change the value to 0.
  2. Double-click DWORD RTEModeOnReboot and change the value to 0.
  3. Reboot the system. MACC is now in Disable mode.

You should be able to uninstall it once it's in DISABLE mode (regardless if the "McAfee Solidifier" service is in a RUNNING state or not.

Does the RTEMODE values still show as 0 when you boot back into Windows Normal mode?  I'm wondering if something could be changing them back to a 1 (ENABLE) state?   Maybe try disabling the McAfee Agent service (you'll need to disable its Self-Protection feature in its policy first) in case there are tasks changing it?

If possible, I would ask that you contact our Support team and open a case, providing a MER from one of the systems to review.  I'm not sure why MACC would still show ENABLE mode if the RTEMODE values are both set to 0.

Hello,

Im running into a similar issue where Soldicore will not install and have seen this advice to change the registry settings. What do you recommend if i do not even have the SWIN Registry to change?

Thanks
