Endpoint DLP Removable Storage Protection- Device Exception

There doesn't seem to be a way to create an exception for removable media device types within Endpoint DLP Data Protection.   For example, we allow Aegis securekey for work and I do not want to monitor for content saved to this device type.  The only exceptions I see avilable are classification, end user, or application.  Not device type, serial number, or name.  Any ideas?

Re: Endpoint DLP Removable Storage Protection- Device Exception

You cannot use device type, serial number and so in "Data Protection". Use "Device Control" instead, where you can create an exception for device template (device type, device id, volume serial number, ...), processes, serial number and user pairs and/or users exceptions.

Re: Endpoint DLP Removable Storage Protection- Device Exception

I have same issue.  Device control tab instead of Data Protection tab doesn't help.  You cannot do Classifications in device control.

I have a blocking run set up for Removable storage but it is now blocking the USB devices used in my conference rooms to project to large monitors in the room.

I would like to be able to have my rule in the Data Protection tab but yet white list approved USB devices my company allows.  If this is not possible I can not use a blocking Removable storage rule.  This is a big gap McAfee needs to address.

@edizzle Thanks for choosing Support Community.

@jacek is correct. protection rule is not to manage devices. Are you able to define a device in the condition tab of protection rule? Since it is not in condition, not available in exception as well.

If you can provide more information what exactly trying to achieve, we can help to resolve. Or, you may create a service request with support to get help via remote.
