Can't remove McAfee Endpoint Security from Win10 Client

Hello everyone,

I had the strange issue on one of our clients, that I can't deinstall the Endpoint Security with the latest RemovalTool.

We have a Win10 20H2 Client where the Trellix Agent (5.7.7.378) and Endpoint Security (Security Platform Version: 10.7.0.3468) were installed. When I unistall those versions with the RemovalTool everything looks fine but after a firm reboot the windows security center still shows me the McAfee Endpoint Security as first antivirus system on the client and I can't get rid of it.

All folders under ProgramFiles or ProgramData of McAfee are deleted and there no major regentries in the registry.

Do you guys have any idea where else I can look to get McAfee out of the system.

Hi @Toby ,

To be sure, select Endpoint Security intentionally again in the Removal Tool and reboot to see if it improves the situation.

If the problem persists, please contact Microsoft to confirm why windows security center recognizes Endpoint Security as the first antivirus system even though Endpoint Security is not present, as this is also the behavior of windows security center. 

If Microsoft's investigation result is that Endpoint Security is the cause, please contact us again by Service Request with the investigation result .
