Hi,
I've downloaded the install package of ENS (McAfee Endpoint Security 10.6.1.1087.8) for Windows and I'm using it to install on some new machines.
When I try to update that installation using ePO, it returns this error:
Required HotFix version 181113 of Endpoint Security Plataform not present on the system
I have that HotFix checked in on my ePO, and some machines are already using it.
Here is the image of how the machines appear on ePO:
The first one is the machine that is complaining the lack of that update.
The second one is my machine where its all upgraded using ePO.

@russm @Daniel_S So to clarify, the confusion comes from the fact that the Full Installer and Patch packages for ENS 10.6.1 Dec Update had different build numbers than the minor update/hotfix package. This could lead to siginificant confusion about what was "the latest" despite them all being the same from a code-base perspective. So, there is no need to apply the Hotfix on top of the builds. Since release, all of the the hotfix packages were pulled due to confusion and issues with the differing build numbers causing repeated installation attempts on top of versions that didn't need it because it was already up to date. Below are the "latest" build numbers. Anything else, you'll need to wait for February update for newer or to upgrade systems that were on, for example, a 10.6.1 Nov Update.
Adaptive Threat Protection client | 10.6.1.1120 | PD27825 | KB82450(Firewall, Threat Prevention, and Web Control) KB88788 (ATP) |
December 11, 2018 |
Common client | 10.6.1.1124
Firewall client | 10.6.1.1106
Threat Prevention client | 10.6.1.1208
Web Control client | 10.6.1.1082 |

@SWISS As we've discussed, there were several unique challenges that were found with the 10.6.1 December Update that we're fully aware of and have been extensively reviewing and working on. These hurdles will be eliminated by the planned 10.6.1 February Update release.
The minor update packages for ENS 10.6.1 December Update were pulled shortly after release and are not available. Thus the only ways to get to 10.6.1 Dec Update is in scenarios similar to the following:
ENSTP 10.5.4 RTW --> ENSTP 10.6.1 Dec Update | Customer will need the Full Install Package
ENSTP 10.6.0 RTW --> ENSTP 10.6.1 Dec Update | Customer will need the Patch Package
ENSTP 10.6.1 Nov Update --> Customer will need to wait for February Update
If for some reason you are seeing build numbers for 10.6.1 December update that are different than the ones listed in the previously provided table, then you likely have the pulled minor update/hotfix packages which we do not advise be used as you will experience problems with the upgrades/updates.

Hi! Here is the other post that I've mentioned.
The SR is 4-19531568431 and Santosh Korwan is already on it!
Thanks!
We are facing the same problem.
Any news on this case?
Hi! Santosh just called me to schedule a remote session tomorrow morning.
I'll let you know what we discover...
@vandreytrindade Thanks for keying me in on this post. We'll be standing by for the results of your remote session 🙂
Hi!
As promised, here I am to give the feedback of the remote session.
Santosh has shown me the page below:
https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB82761
And according to him, I'm updated.
The 10.6.1.1124 and 10.6.1.1208 are the latest versions of Endpoint Security Plataform and Endpoint Security Threat Prevention respectively.
The December installer was reposted and maybe they decided to change that number version.
So, nothing wrong.
Well I am wondering what that has to do with a Hotfix Installation!?
So you found no solution for why the Hotfix can´t be applied?
Sorry @Daniel_S, he said that probably with the release of the January version that problem should disappear.
Same Problem with updating ENS 10.6.1 to version 1124 and 1208.
Any News?
Kind Regards
Karin
We are experiencing a similar situation. For the time being, I have disabled the product deployment task. Durring the attpemted installation, systems become extrememly slow and unresponsive. As the update is failing, our delpoyment task was set to retry every hour. If I attempt the update manaually with the Update Now button in Endpoint Security I see the following in the Agent Monitor:
Verifying mfehidin64.exe.
Starting HotFix update.
Update is cancelled byt the user.
In the Update window of Endpoint Security it is stuck on Starting HotFix update.
We are seeing the same results with a fresh install of 10.6.1, or with an upgrade from 10.5.4, 10.5.5 and 10.6.0
We are currently running Agent version 5.5.1.388
