ENS 10.6.1 : MFETP not started, how to repair TP ?

Jump to solution

Hello,

I'm running on McAfee Endpoint Security 10.6.1 with Windows 1809.

My Threat Prevention Module is not started.

Here is the result with this cmd "C:\Program Files\Common Files\McAfee\SystemCore>mmsinfo.exe -enum"

SERVICE_NAME: mfetp
SERVICE_STATUS SERVICE_STOPPED

I would like to know how can I repair this module ?

I have try with "C:\Program Files\McAfee\Endpoint Security\Threat Prevention\RepairCache\McAfee_Threat_Prevention_x64.msi" but it's look stuck.

I would prefer not to uninstall/reinstall everything, I already tryed this and sometimes, this does not change anythings.

Thanks.

We have fixed this issue using Endpoint Product Removal (which force uninstall ENS) and then reinstall ENS 10.6.

We have less issue like this with 10.7

I would suggest to raise ticket with Technical Support to fully understand why this issue is occurring in your environment.  Once the point of failure has been identified, we will be able to provide an effective solution/mitigation.

The below information will aid in the investigation:

1)  When did the issue start happening?

2)  What changes were made prior? (i.e. Upgrades)

3)  How many systems affected?

4)  MER Log from the affected system

Thank you for your cooperation and patience.

Thanks for your reply, I have already openned on support ticket, but I wanted to know the community feedback on this issue (if someone had the same issue).

The below information will aid in the investigation:

1) When did the issue start happening?
- I don't know, It's affected on agent between 5.5.0 and 5.6.1 and ENS between 10.2 to 10.6.1

2) What changes were made prior? (i.e. Upgrades)
- Issue come randomly, sometimes it fix itselft (reboot/ reinstall)

3) How many systems affected?
- about 600 systems is affected

4) MER Log from the affected system
- I provide this and AMTrace + Procmon to the support

I'm afraid you can't repair mfetp with that option. To repair an installation you would need to remove the entire ENS suite and reinstall it following a reboot.

That being said I would advise you to work with support on finding the cause of this issue.
