I have setup Scheduled Scan Options in policy as scan anytime.  Any sugestion ?

Hi @adamwoj

I assume what you are doing is marking the system in ePO and selecting "Run Client Task Now". By doing so you have a default expiry time of 20 minutes. You can change this after selecting "Run Client Task Now" in the tab "options". However the best way to run an ODS task is via a schedule. So you would need to create a client task assignment and schedule the task to run at a certain time.

Hi @adamwoj

Thank you for your post.

My bet is on the Scan Task assignment options and Run task now option.

1) Run client task now has a default time out value of 20 minutes. This can be viewed under options tab once the task is selected. if you are not using an existing task and just creating one on the fly, you may not be able to edit the options after you get into the "Create New Task"

2) If it is due to task timeout, you will have to go to the group in ePO to which the task is assigned, click on assigned tasks tab and against the scan task that is in question. Now please click on edit assignment and look for the option that says "Stop the task if it runs for". If this value is set for 20 minutes, this is as per design.

Can you kindly check if any of the above is the case here?

edit: I just noticed @Former Member's response. It makes more sense. I completely agree with that response and I guess that should resolve your query. Apologies for repeating it.

We have an automated system that uses the API to call for the On Demand Scan. In the past the scans completed but lately we  have found that the scans stop in 20 minutes. Because we do not interact with the task, how can we set a different expiry time globally in the system?

If the task scheduled under EPO>System Tree>Assigned Client Task tab, then you can always customize how long a task supposed to run. Check the below Screenshot:

This option by default is not checked. If you keep this un-checked then task will run till entire scanning process has completed. If you check the above option and specify the time then task will end after mentioned timed.
