ENS for Linux Standloane installation- Which Agent to use?

Hi

I'm trying to install ENSL as standalone on an Ubuntu server, since no ePO is present. The problem is that McAfee Agent is required to be installed otherwise ENSL won't install.

Where do I het an Standalone agent installer?

I donwloaded the Linux Agent from the website but there is not install.sh file there.

Since this is Ubuntu, I installed the Debian packages from the Standloane agent I downloaded:

MFErt.i686.deb and MFEma.x86_64.deb. The agent seemed to install fine but still ENSL does not like.

Where do I get get a standlone McAfee Agent for Linux that get the DAT pdates from McAfee Cloud only?

@JoseRR What version of the Agent are you using? Depending on what version of ENSL you are using, it may require you to use a specific Agent version to be compatible. You can review the supported configurations in KB87073.

I'm using  5.5.1.362 with ENS for Linux 10.5.1 and I managed to install ENS after reverting a snapshot.

The only way possible to install the Agent on an standalone Ubuntu 18.04 server machine, seems to be running the debian packages MFErt.i686.deb and MFEma.x86_64.deb from within the Agent zip file and it installs. However, at the moment I'm unable to update the DAT. It could be an issue on my netwrok but who garantee me that by installing the two debian packages above the Agent will work fine?. is there anything else missing?. This isn't documented anywhere or I haven't been able to find it.

 

In Summary, what are the option to install ENSL as standalone in an environment where ePO is not present, since the agent is a mandatory requirement  to install ENSL?

 

To my understanding there should be an install.sh agent somewhere that is not linked to any ePO at all an standalone agent that will get the DAT and Engines updates from McAfee Cloud directly.

Installed standalone agent by  running (In Ubuntu Server)

sudo dpkg -i /absolute/path/to/deb/file
sudo apt-get install -f

To these files from the Agent installer downloaded from McAfee products
MFErt.i686.deb
MFEma.x86_64.deb

DAT update works fine this time.

I suggest to create a KB is there is no a standlone agent for ENS for Linux standlone installation without ePO

Does this apply to RedHat? I have a few RedHat 7.5 standalone servers that I'm installing ENS 10.2.3 on and we can't seem to install ENS because its looking for the McAfee Agent. How do I install the McAfee Agent on the a standalone RedHat 7.5 standalone server, in order for me to install ENS? Please help.

@kblowe You will need to go into your Product Downloads page and you can download the Linux package for the latest version of the McAfee Agent. Then once this is transferred to the system you can install locally via the following commands (based on your distribution) once extracted:

rpm -ivh MFErt
rpm -ivh MFEcma
(this is what is needed for RedHat)

OR for debian based OS: 
dpkg -i MFErt
dpkg -i MFEcma

Thanks! I see the newer version of the Agent have the correct files ENS was looking for pertaining to the Agent.

Still no luck here. When trying to install ENS, its requiring "MFErt.x86_64.rpm" and that is not in the latest McAfee Agent 5.5.1.342 download MS551LNX download. Why is this so complicated? I need help please.

When I tried mine (I'm the author of this post), I installed these packages (For Ubuntu Server) and in that order.

MFErt.i686.deb
MFEma.x86_64.deb

I would try with MFErt.i686.rpm then MFEma.x86_64.rpm

We are instalilng McAfee Agent first, then we install ENS and when ENS is intalling its looking for MFErt.x86_64.rpm. How do we install ENS if the Agent doesn' have the file we need. I guess I need to open a ticket with McAfee support.
