Error 1603 when installing Endpoint silently

Hi!

I updated my Endpoint to the 2021 February update (version 10.7.0.1045.11).

Since then my script to prepare new machines is failing to install Endpoint silently over the network.

Here's the command line I'm using on my PowerShell script:

Start-Process "$Path\$Directory\setupEP.exe" -ArgumentList 'ADDLOCAL="tp" /passive' -Wait

It always worked with older versions.

Now I have to use the removal tool, restart the computer and install it again manually.

Only then it install normally.

But am I using the wrong command line? I didn't understand why you sent me that link since it was working with previous versions.

I would like to know if there is another log file to troubleshoot that error 1603.

Thank you for reporting the issue via a Service Request. I see that you managed to resolve it by understanding the wait message thrown by msi for another msi running in the background. There could usually be serval reasons behind an install failure when the error is 1603 since it is indeed a very generic error message.

Regarding the installations via command line generally error 1603 found in the McAfee Logs indicates improper permissions. The problem with command line scripts, it's generally the parameters after "tp" that cause the issues. I am certain it will install just fine without the additional parameters. Any errors found within the ENS console indicates that the script/installation was not performed by a Domain User account.

Operating Order for Script is as follows:

Setup.exe--->ADDLOCAL--->INSTALLDIR---->Switch(i.e. passive --wait, /qn etc.)

You must ensure that ENS is installed using a Domain User account or equivalent. Any scripts or automation used to install ENS requires a Domain User account. Usually bob.user account is not a "Domain User" account.
