Help me understand CPU usage with ODS

Jump to solution
Hi. I have a problem with hight CPU usage with ODS on a installation that's running ePO 5.10, ENS 10.6. OS is Windows 2019 Standard running on Vmware 7 It's a policy based ODS on a fileserver with around 4TB data to scan. ODS starts saturdays 01:00 and it takes about 21h to complete. The real problem is that CPU goes to +90% and starts to interfere with other systems function, Citrix profiles is on this server and users home directory. Is there some way to limit ODS not to take all it can in CPU resources? TIA, John

I got the impression that limit max CPU in procent didn't work for me. Maybe because I have virtual servers in vmware?? I manage to get the CPU usage down with the other option, 'System Utilization' = Low. Now during ODS I get around 50% CPU and that's what I was after.

Hi John,

ODS typically takes upto 100% of the CPU.

However, yes with the latest ENS extension and product, you can limit the CPU. Please refer to the screenshot.

But the lesser the CPU% given, the more time will be taken by ODS to complete.

Hope this helps!
