So on VSE components, for the most part I think I finally got everything figured out as far as how to update, what to update, using the evaluation branch, etc. But I'm trying to get more systems moved over to ENS, and even though I talked to someone once about it, I'm finding that now that I need to do some updates to ENS in ePO, I'm a bit lost. So here are some questions I thought of:
Sorry for the randomness of questions, I just don't feel like I have a good grip on the process with ENS as it seems quite different from VSE.
Solved! Go to Solution.
The bundle is just a combined package of all components i.e. the update packages for the clients for all ENS components as well as the extensions for ePO for all components. This can contain update packages as well as full installer packages, it depends what was released.
ENS typically gets an update package a.k.a hotfix a.k.a monthly update a.k.a. patch 🙂 every other month and a full installer package every quarter. This can change though due to issues discovered during testing.
These update packages can only be applied to systems already running the same major build of ENS i.e. if you check in the latest bundle for ENS 10.6 then only systems running ENS 10.6 will get the update applied. If you have any running 10.5 then the checked in package will not be applied.
To update clients from VSE or older ENS major builds i.e. 10.5, this is where you would need the full installer package. The latest one is the one released in December.
The question about the Software Manager would need to be posted in the ePO forum.
Hope this helps. If not, let us know what is still unclear and we'll be happy to help.

Thanks, I thought I was subscribed to the topic but somehow missed the reply.
Is there a reference somewhere to what version numbers match up to the monthly patch? For example, I have a platform version on my machine of 10.6.1.1206 and a threat prevention version of 10.6.1.1273, but I'd like to figure out where those fall in the scheme of things as far as monthly updates are concerned.
The best way to check is in the supported platforms KB article under "ENS product release information":
