I would recommend opening a ticket with McAfee as this might require some logs for investigation.
As per the issue stated by you the update runs, and just quits in the middle of trying to get files, but there are no events in the windows logs. This is the only message type that shows an issue:

A third party product could be causing this issue and hence I would recommend you to open a ticket with McAfee for further analysis.
