McAfee Profiler results file *.mpr is corrupted.

Jump to solution

Everytime I run a capture and save the results, I am unable to reopen the .mpr file.

It states, "McAfee Profiler cannot open this file as the file has been corrupted."

I ran the profiler using command prompt and via the gui interface with the same result of the file being corrupted when I try to open it in the GUI interface.

Please advise on how to properly capture and reopen the result files.

The issue is FIPS (Federal Information Processing Standard) being enabled.

Turning off FIPS on a test system (and restarting) I was able to run the MProfiler and save then reopen *.mpr files with no problem.

I believe the hashes algo used within *.mpr is not compatible with FIPS enabled.

To disable FIPS (temporarily) open gpedit.msc - Computer Configuration - Windows Settings - Security Settings - Local Policies - Security Options. Select ,System cryptography: Use FIPS compliant algorithms for encryption, hashing and signing, Set it to disabled and restart.

Repeat the steps to re-enable FIPS once finished.

I downloaded the the files again and I am still getting the same result.

I have tried using mprofiler manually through the gui, through cmd and through ePO.

I am unable to save the file to reopen later or open the file that is automatically created.

I have also tried this on several different systems and 2 different ePO servers with the same result.

Please advise on how to proceed.

Thank you.
