Mcafee ENS Linux extension

Hi,

I can see that McAfee Endpoint Security for Linux Threat Prevention 10.5.4 Build 106 available but I dont see any extension available for that. The only ENS Linux extension available is 10.2.0.103 but its version is lower than product version. It should be same or higher version than the package used

Hi @haaris

I did verified to find that the only extension available to download is "McAfee Endpoint Security for Linux License Extension Version 10.2.0.103 ".

Re: Mcafee ENS Linux extension

The ENS license extensions for MAC and Linux both don't match up to the ENS versions. The extension 1.2.0.103 is the latest for Linux.

Re: Mcafee ENS Linux extension

Hi @Former Member, It means if I use extension 10.2 and install ENA Linux 10.5.4 it will work? So extension criteria is only for windows.

Why there is a word license in the Linux extension which I think is not in windows

Re: Mcafee ENS Linux extension

Only the Linux license extension has this lower version. The actual product itself uses the ENS extensions. So if you are installing ENS Linux 10.5.4, you should have ENS TP / Common extensions 10.5.4 + or 10.6.1 checked in.

This specific license extension for Linux is an add on as such. But the policy itself for ENS is the same one for all platforms - the license extension will advise you one which settings can and can't be applied to certain platforms.

Re: Mcafee ENS Linux extension

Hi @Former Member

I am confused now..

You mean to say irrespective of platform(Windows,Linux,Mac) on which we deploy ENS package it should be supported by common ENS extension and there is no seperate extension for Linux or Mac?

Re: Mcafee ENS Linux extension

Correct - irrespective of platform there are one set of ENS extensions. There is an additional extension for Mac and Linux which are the 1.2.x ones you were mentioning earlier in the thread.

@Former Member

Thank you for the information Chealey. I wish if McAfee would have posted a note about this in the download site would actually avoid the confusion for most of the customers 🙂

Thanks and Regards,

Re: Mcafee ENS Linux extension

It is actually mentioned in the installation guide:

https://kc.mcafee.com/resources/sites/MCAFEE/content/live/PRODUCT_DOCUMENTATION/27000/PD27641/en_US/...

see page 6:

You must install these extensions in this order to enable the features of the product:
• Endpoint Security for Linux License — Endpoint Security for Linux license extension to view the operating system-specific tag in the policy and task options.
• Endpoint Security Platform — Endpoint Security Common policy extension.
• These product modules as required:
• Endpoint Security Threat Prevention extension.
• Product help extension
