On Access Scan exclusions and Custom - On Demand Scan

Jump to solution

Hi All,

Simple question I can't seem to google the answer for, currently I have set exclusions in on access scan and I've just created a weekly custom On Demand Scan which will scan the C drives of users workstations, once  a week, answer I'm looking for is are exclusions in my On Access Scan included in my Custom Weekly On Demand Scan or do I need to copy them all into the On Demand Scan exclusions, I;m hoping that the On Demand Scan exclusions also apply to the Weekly scan or it's going to be a chore to remember to put them in both locations.

thanks

Hi @barryt

ODS and OAS exclusion lists are entirely seperate. You'd need to put any nessesary exclusions into your ODS policy/ task (depending on if you are using custom or policy based ODS tasks).

@barryt Keep in mind, if you're using Policy Based ODS rather than Custom ODS then this absolves you of needing to remember to implement exclusions into a task each time as you can configure in the policy what you typically want excluded for the different types of ODS---it would be a one time copying of the exclusions from your OAS that you want excluded into the ODS Policy.

@barryt

Dear Barryt,

As @jess_arman stated, On Access Scan is entirely different from On Demand Scan, they perform the same job at two different levels.

I would recommend you to add the required exclusions to the On Demand Scan which will resolve your issue.

Cheers!!!
