Hi,
I found one on -demand scan log from system having ENS installed and not able to understand few result in the logs saying "Failed to scan due to sharing violation" and "Failed to scan due to permision issue".I havent seen this earlier.I thought there might be some permission issue but its not.Can anyone explain me what does it really mean..
@haaris "Failed to scan due to sharing violation" occurs when we attempt to scan the file that the operating system already has a file handle on, which does not allow us to access it. Similar to when you have a file open, and you attempt to delete the folder that file is in--the system will give you an error saying it's open in another application, meaning it couldn't be actioned due to an existing file handle.
"Failed to scan due to permission issue" is typically when a file has been locked by the OS or application as "locked for read or write" or may be locked for read only by certain users--meaning whatever permission is needed for accessing the file, the scanner did not have.

Hi,
Really thankful for your answer..
For "sharing violation" case what we could do so those files get scanned by McAfee
For "permission issue" case we check with the user it has all the permissions
Is there anything you can suggest?
@haaris In regards to "sharing violation", if the file gets released by whatever was holding it before and meets criteria for scanning again, then it would be scanned. There's not something I can recommend be done to 100% ensure those files be scanned as there could be an infinite number of unknown reasons the file is in a state where that occurs and factors affecting it. Typically, scenarios like this are an example of a reason why full ODS are run.
