Scan "on network drives" OAS policy option

Jump to solution

Hi,

can someone please elaborate on how OAS scan options "on network drives" in VSE and ENS work? I read the product documentation but I still don't fully understand it. It was my assumption that a running OAS with scan "when reading from disk" active will check all files open on the host for Malware. How does that not overlap with the "on network drives" option? If I have scanning on network drives disabled and open Malware.exe located on a network drives it will not be blocked by VSE/ENS?

Thank you in advance for clarification on the matter.

AV is installed on all the machines in the environment. So even if "on network drives" scanning option is disabled the file will still be scanned on the machine on which the file is present and since scanning it on the machine accessing it remotely will have more system resource consumption and is redundant effort. Depending on your environment and requirement you can choose to enable "on network drives" option.
