Unable to Check-in McAfee Endpoint Security 10.7.0.1192.5 Enterprise Bundle

We are looking to migrate / upgrade from Virusscan Enterprise to Endpoint Security using our EPO server, but I am getting an error each time I try to check-in the required bundle. It seems to be failing to check-in extensions but is not very transparent as to why it is failing. The error I am receiving is as follows:

19/10/21 12:25:18Started: Check In Components

Is anyone else having this problem or is there any other logs I can check?

I have also tried to check in all of the Extensions manually of which I seem to be able to check them in with no problems, except for the Firewall_10.7.0.1025_Extension which gives me the below error:

Unable to install extension. java.sql.SQLException: There is already an object named 'FW_Application' in the database.

I cannot see the extension anywhere else in the system, so I am not sure why this area is being shown.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I am going to move this over to ens team since that is their extension and object it is complaining about.

Re: Unable to Check-in McAfee Endpoint Security 10.7.0.1192.5 Enterprise Bundle

Hi @Richard_Ward,

Thank you for reporting this issue. It is indeed not easily identifiable via the task messages produced by ePO. We may ahve dig into the "Orion" logs and probably enable debug logging to understand what exactly is causing the conflict preventing the extensions from getting checked in.

I would first recommend few basic steps to be done before we get to the point of creating a Service Request and analyzing the issue further.

--> Please check for previously installed extensions for Endpoint Security. Kindly please check if already newer version of extensions are present if they are running.

--> Restart the ePO Services (if possible/feasible) and please try checking in the extension of ENS components.

--> Please download the Endpoint Security platform extension manually from the product downloads site or using the Software Manager in ePO and check in the extension manually and kindly check if the check in fails.

If none of the above help, please create a new Service Request with Support where we can further dig into the logs and find what is wrong here.

*Note: We recommend using latest version of ePO and latest version of ENS extensions as applicable.

Re: Unable to Check-in McAfee Endpoint Security 10.7.0.1192.5 Enterprise Bundle

Hi @AdithyanT,

Thank you for coming back to me. Please find my answers in line below:

--> Please check for previously installed extensions for Endpoint Security. Kindly please check if already newer version of extensions are present if they are running. - I have checked and there is no other versions of Endpoint Security Installed. This is the first attempt we have tried to install this.

--> Restart the ePO Services (if possible/feasible) and please try checking in the extension of ENS components. - We actually reboot the entire server yesterday and the components will still not check in.

--> Please download the Endpoint Security platform extension manually from the product downloads site or using the Software Manager in ePO and check in the extension manually and kindly check if the check in fails. - I have downloaded the bundle and been able to install all extensions except the Firewall Extension (ENDP_FW_META), which gives me the below error.

Unable to install extension. java.sql.SQLException: There is already an object named 'FW_Application' in the database.

If I then rerun the Check-in, it still fails advising none of the extensions can be installed.

Have you seen the above before or should I know just log a service request?

Many Thanks,

Richard Ward

Re: Unable to Check-in McAfee Endpoint Security 10.7.0.1192.5 Enterprise Bundle

Hi @Richard_Ward,

Thank you for your quick update on the suggestions!

I have downloaded the bundle and been able to install all extensions except the Firewall Extension (ENDP_FW_META), which gives me the below error.

Unable to install extension. java.sql.SQLException: There is already an object named 'FW_Application' in the database.

If I then rerun the Check-in, it still fails advising none of the extensions can be installed.

May I confirm that as of now your ePO has all other extensions from ENS bundle, except for Firewall extension?

In this case, I believe there is another entry of firewall extension and it is possibly a stale one from an older version that failed to get removed for some reason if it is not displayed under "Extensions" page in your Menu.

I would recommend creating an SR right now to progress further with this. If you do find an extension named "Endpoint Security Firewall" listed under Extensions page, then, you can attempt a removal of the same from the extensions page.

*Note: Before you remove any extensions, it is important to confirm that you ahve a backup of the Database and ePO configurations (Just to be on a safer side). It is also important to have "Policy and Task Retention" to be enabed under ePO Menu --> Server Settings (It is disabled by default).

Re: Unable to Check-in McAfee Endpoint Security 10.7.0.1192.5 Enterprise Bundle

Hi @AdithyanT ,

All extensions have installed from the bundle I downloaded, except the Firewall extension. Although when I do try to check-in again, it says it fails on all extensions still, so not sure if there is a further issue.

I will look to raise an SR through our parent company (as I do not have access to the support tool) for this issue and will let you know how I get on.

Many Thanks,

Richard Ward
