Web Control blocking site after category change

Jump to solution

Trying to get this site's webpages to come up for our users. I found some pages that were categorized as PUP but when I attempt to go to the site our web control pop up still says categorized as PUP

If you go to http://72.15.246.185/DareNC/ , click on the acknowledge link and it will open up another website with 4 tabs. two, consolidated and view images come up as being categorized as PUP's.

When I check the website's under TrustedSource single URL check, they don't come up as PUP's.

What would cause this? Site categorized by McAfee as "Internet Services" but on my end it gets categorized as PUP?

Yes, we are able to finally see the website, but it wasn't from applying the ENS default policy that was already applied.

For those who are looking for answers and have a similar problem this is what was happening

If someone is able to see the categorization history of a webpage you would see that the website is constantly toggling between a PUP and then switched over to Internet Services.

This can be checked frequently on the website for McAfee URL check [ Check Single URL (trustedsource.org) ]

Viewing the HTML on the webpage(s), meaning main webpage and subpages, and testing the URL's against Trusted Source link above, you'll see some webpages go from Internet Services to PUP. This wasn't done in a matter of days but rather hours. Then a request from Trusted source was made and websites were changed to Internet Services, and were accessible until the URL was categorized as PUP again.

A SR had to be created for the correct team to view the URL's and categorize them all properly, and whatever they did stopped the websites from randomly reverting.

Additionally, it's good to let customers know for specific concerns or questions on the reputation - users  can submit an email to sites@mcafee,com. List the URL you are inquiring about, list its current reputation, and why you disagree with it.

Another note if you use the Trusted source note the fine print at the bottom of the web page that a request can take from 3 - 5 business days, but has rarely been the case for me.

Hello,

Thank you for your post on Mcafee community.

I tried to access the URL you provided in the post and I was able to access the page without any warnings or error, refer below screenshot. So I feel that there may be some other setting that is blocking the URL.

Please apply Mcafee's default policy to ENS-webcontrol and let us know the result.

I hope this helps. Let us know if you have any questions.
