confusion around version numbers and hotfix 181211

Jump to solution

hi guys

Can someone help explain the version numbers with hotfix 181211 for ENS firewall.

I have a client that has hotfix 181211 installed. The firewall is version 10.6.1.1104 as seen below:firewall.PNG

However another client doesnt have hotfix 181211 install but has a higher version of firewall, 10.6.1.1106:

firewall1.PNG

any ideas?

@ryan190 They are the same. Both are the 10.6.1 December Update code.

Please be advised that a similar differentiation occurs with the other modules also (as below), however all are still the same code.

Platform Patch - 10.6.1.1124

Platform Hotfix - 10.6.1.1125

Threat Prevention Patch - 10.6.1.1208

Threat Prevention Hotfix - 10.6.1.1209

Firewall Patch - 10.6.1.1106

Firewall Hotfix - 10.6.1.1104

Web Control Patch - 10.6.1.1082

Web Control Hotfix - 10.6.1.1081

@ryan190 This is a "cosmetic" issue in that the content of the 10.6.1 December update packages is the same. However, due to the way the build comes out of the back end, it ended up that the patch package and the HF packages are coming out with slightly different build numbers.

We're working to update documentation from the Support side to make this less confusing.

If you're needing to have consistent build numbering due to reporting reasons, we'd advise that you use a "version x is greater than previous version y" in your query so both 10.6.1.1104 and 10.6.1.1106 are pulled in.

This same discrepancy is present for all modules.

Thanks for this.

So are you saying that 10.6.1.1104 and 10.6.1.1106 are infact the same? or is one more up to date then the other?
