Big Sur compatibility

Jump to solution

With the release of Mac OS Big Sur expected next week, is there any news on a compatible version of ENS, agent etc?

I expect some of our Mac users will want to upgrade as soon as possible after the OS release.

Hi @ChrisQ,

We do have a Release to Support package of ENSM 10.7.5 which is comparable with Big Sur, which you can acquire by creating a service request.

The Release to the world has no yet been announced.

As always, before upgrading macOS, we recommend that you update your McAfee security software. When possible, always make sure that the version of your McAfee software is compatible with your macOS version before you start your upgrade.

We do have support for the new macOS, Big Sur. We usually make a public announcement only when Apple announces GA, hence you have not found anything regarding this in the public KBs. Both ENS for Mac and Agent has product versions supporting Big Sur.

Thanks for the quick reply. I  take it these versions are not currently available, but will be as soon as Big Sur is released?

Re: Big Sur compatibility

Interestingly today ENS for Mac 10.7.5 was released along with a new McAfee Agent 5.6.6.290 (aka 5.6.6 HF1), which is a pre-req for Big Sur. However, ePO will not successfully deploy the Threat Prevention component even with the latest McAfee Agent installed.  The error from client events is "Installation is canceled due to the detection of unsupported McAfee Agent version. For the list of supported McAfee Agent versions, see McAfee KB84934."

Seems to be a bit more testing needed here.

I have managed to deploy it all successfully, so far to about 50 machines.

I can see in ePO that Agent 5.6.6.290, Platform 10.7.5.227, Threat Prevention 10.7.5.163 and ATP 10.7.5.125 are all installed and I have spoken to some of the users and apart from having to allow full disk access to /usr/local/McAfee/AntiMalware/VShieldScanManager.app (as per the documentation) it all went well.

Still get 'unknown' for ATP content version, although that's always been the case with all previous versions.

How do we create a service request to get the latest version which is compatible?

Hi @Former Member ,

The version 10.7.5 is available to download from McAfee Download site. No need to log a service request for same.

McAfee Download Site >>https://www.mcafee.com/enterprise/en-in/downloads/my-products.html

Thanks,
