cannot backup all tabel from GUI

We plan to upgrade our NSM from version 10.1.7.50.2 to version 10.1.7.66.66. However, we failed to perform a backup of all tables and config tables. We tried to backup through the GUI, but it stopped at the 241st minute. We found information that we can perform a backup via the manager shell, but it requires disabling the service manager. Is it possible to perform a backup of all tables and config tables without disabling the service manager? Last year, when we did the upgrade, we successfully backed up all tables through the GUI, and the total backup file size was 50GB. If we perform a backup of all tables now using the manager shell, how long will it take to obtain the file?

Re: cannot backup all tabel from GUI

Hello,

There are a few options to take a backup from the NSM.  You can backup from the NSM ui and from the MLOS command line / windows dbadmin.bat file.

When taking a backup from the dbadmin.bat and dbBackup.sh you need to stop the manager service.  You don't need to stop the manager service when taking backup from NSM ui.

The command line backup is only for MLOS and the dbadmin.bat backup is only from Windows environment.  Please find all procedures below.

NSM UI - Back up your Manager (or Central Manager) data:

Windows Back up data using dbadmin.bat:

https://docs.trellix.com/es-ES/bundle/network-security-platform-10.1.x-product-guide/page/GUID-22387...

MLOS Database backup:

The time in which the NSM takes to perform an ‘All Tables’ backup is dependent on multiple factors.  The factors are how much data is in the database, the specification, and resources on the NSM server and the number of resources available to process the request.  Too much data is the number one reason a backup takes a long time to finish.

My recommendation is to configure an automatic backup from the NSM ui and schedule the backup early in the morning or later at night.  This will allow must resources to be available on the system and allow a backup to start and finish however long it takes.

Automate backup of your Manager (or Central Manager) data:

If a backup is taking a long time, then you may wish to review the database size from the health check and then perform pruning before taking a backup.

Any questions or problems, then please let me know.

Many Thanks,
