I am trying to upgrade one of our virtual MWG appliances from 7.7.2.18 to 7.7.2.19
It gets so far until :-
Upgrade in progress, please wait ...
Unsupported output format of 'mwg-switch-repo -l'
Expected format: 'Current Configuration: <Sticky|Non-sticky> MWG <version> <(testing)|(release)>'
After this nothing seems to be happening

Hi,
Firstly upgrading MWG using GUI would update to latest main release version which currently is 7.8.2.5
For upgrading to a specific version 7.7.2.19 it will need to be done from CLI using sticky command.
Version 7.7.2.x is having hybrid support. Please refer below link for info on this:-

I suggest you to click on Yes and proceed further.

Hi,
Hope you are doing well.
So if I am not wrong you are trying to upgrade from MWG CLI and making use of below commands:-
Also can you once provide output of below command:-
mwg-switch-repo -l
Regards

mwg -switch-repo -l
Current configuration: Non-sticky MWG 7.6 (release)
Managed by SaaS
mwg-switch-repo --sticky 7.7.2.19
***WARNING : MWG cluster is configured for hybrid mode. You are overrriding update restrictions with --sticky option. Make sure that the MWG version you want to update to is compatible with the MWG version running in the cloud, otherwise you will suffer synchronization failures.
Do you want to proceed? ([y]es/[n]o)
I did not proceed past the warning for now, in the past I have updated simply using the 'Update appliance software' option from within the MWG web admin and had no issues.

I upgraded both appliances via CLI and all OK 🙂
I was looking to upgrade to 7.8 previously as it gets rid of the Java reliance for the web console I believe, but according to this document https://community.mcafee.com/t5/Documents/Web-Gateway-Upgrade-Best-Practices-and-Understanding-Relea... 7.8 is still in the control release branch?
Hi,
Glad that the upgrade is successful now.
McAfee Web Gateway Main Release 7.8.2.5.0
McAfee Web Gateway Controlled Release 8.0.2
As of version 7.8.1, MWG GUI access does not require JAVA.
Using a browser without Java support: -
You can work with the Web Gateway user interface through a browser and do not need any Java support.
The product behavior is mainly the same. However, there are some differences that are mainly related to file handling, such as: For example, importing and exporting files and their contents
