Alert on Configuration Changes

Over the years, for one reason or another, we have a large build up of host file entries on our McAfee Web Gateway. I'd like to create an alert when this occurs. Is this possible natively on the McPhee Web Gateway? Alternatively could i grab this from syslog or the API ?
