Can my employer's system admins decrypt my online banking password through McAfee Web Gateway?

Jump to solution

Hello,

My employer uses McAfee Web Gateway to monitor internet traffic.  Does this means that my employer's system admins can decrypt HTTPS through McAfee Web Gateway?  (The issuer of my internet browser says "MWG", which perhaps stands for McAfee Web Gateway.)

Can they see my online banking passwords when I logon to my bank from company's computer?

Please pardon that I am not IT network expert-- I am just an end user.

Thank you.

Dear RedVirus,

the functionality to use SSL scanner allow the "MWG" to decrypt and scan traffic. This would mean your password pass the MWG in clear test which does not mean your admin "read" your password. This isnt the purpose of using MWG. If you do have concerns someone can read your Credentials using a device your have no control over - dont use it. Do your bank related tasks at home.

P.S.: Same suggestion can be given for any internet available "free proxies" to hide your external address. The security risk might be higher as the benefit your get.
