External ICAP Server HA

Hi All,

I currently have a single ICAP server, reprocessing data passed by the MWG, however, I've occasionally had my ICAP server run out of resources when the MWG is under heavy load.

What I'd like to do, ideally, is when the first server reports a lack of resources, the MWG to send the data to my second ICAP server.

Alternately, a true load balancing config would be appreciated.

Re: External ICAP Server HA

Thanks Alok,

Sadly this is the wrong way around.  This is using the MWG as the HA device and ICAP server, whereas I need the MWG to be the ICAP client and my device, as the HA ICAP server.

Thanks

Dominic

Re: External ICAP Server HA

Hi,

Apologies for misunderstanding your question here.

So MWG is an ICAP Client here  and another device which is ICAP server. In this case you would have done configuration on MWG as mentioned in below link:-

https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB89564&SNSPD-0817.

In the same settings you can specify second ICAP server IP Address for load balancing part as per screenshot attached.

Re: External ICAP Server HA

Thanks Alok,

Looks good, my existing config is slightly more complex, as it only acts on a list of specific media types.

I assume there is no failover approach, by reading the returned option list from our server?

Many thanks

Dominic
