Best Upgrade Procedure to get to 5.9.1 on Server 2016

Hello,

Currently running Windows 2008 R2 with ePO 5.3.3 using SQL Express on box.  My plan was to first follow the procedure here to migrate the DB to a SQL Standard 2014 DB https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB68427 and once that is complete upgrade from 5.3.3 to 5.9.1.  Once on 5.9.1 with SQL Standard leverage the Disaster Recovery Snapshot option to migrate ePO 5.9.1 from 2008 R2 over to 2016.  using the following https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB66616

Is that a valid path or are there other routes that are better to go down this path?

  Thanks,

    Evan

Yes, that is a valid path.  There are a couple of things you want to do first also.  Install any hotfixes or patches on sql to ensure it supports tls 1.2, then run iiscrypto on both new epo and sql servers, choose best practices, then reboot to ensure that the servers support the epo required ciphers and protocols.
