How to Auto-Sort Systems added by Domain synchronization

Jump to solution

Hello All,

In ePO 4.5, it seems that systems that are added by Active Directory or NT Domain synchronization have System Tree Sorting disabled by default. Therefore, they are not sorted on the first agent-server communication and require a regular rmanual intervention to enable the system tree sorting.

This is quite crucial for us as we have new machines deployed almost daily and therefore this is a big admin overhead if we can't work around it.

Does anyone know how / whether this default can be changed, or whether there is a way of running a task to turn on System Tree Sorting for all devices in a given group?

Any insight appreciated!

Regards,

Jon Duffy

Jon,

I created a server task that runs a query every hour.  The query is based on the Inactive machines query, though I changed the criteria to look for machines in my sync point folder that have checked in to ePO and become "Managed" within the last 2 hours.  The machines enumerated by this query get their sorting status changed to enabled.  Then it performs a wakeup call to get sorted appropriately either by tag or IP address.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Mark
