This error is indicating an issue with the agent - 500 Internal Server Error
I would suggest removing it completely, all remnants, and reinstall it. Our KB system is down right now, so I can't get you a KB for that, but you can search for manual removal instructions (if needed) in a bit.

Please open a ticket then with McAfee and set the agent logging to debug, then get an agent mer (with the 5.6 agent). That mer tool is attached to KB83005. We need to see what is going on with that agent.

Hello, I was wondering if Mcafee every found a solution for you or even found what the problem was. i'm having an almost identical issue and havn't been able to pinpoint the problem in weeks.
Hi,
Sorry for the delayed response
The permissions on /var/McAfee/.msgbus/config.ini needs to be 644 I believe the version of the McAfee agent you are using changes this to 640.
When the servers are restarted the permissions will change back to 640 untill you upgrade it
