Migrate systems from 5.9.1 to 5.10

Jump to solution

Hello, we have 2 different EPO (5.9.1 & 5.10) running in our environment. I have to Migrate Systems from 5.9.1 to 5.10. What would be the right approach to do that ?

There are a couple of kb's and on docs.mcafee.com, the epo product guide also has info on transferring systems.

How to migrate policies and systems from one ePolicy Orchestrator server to another server:

If you are using drive encryption, review this also:

Can I ask which tab you are looking at in 5.10? Both 5.9.x and 5.10.x have the Extensions page, but as you say this doesn't list all the extensions at once.

If you just want a text list of the installed extensions, then you can use a webAPI call to generate this. Use the following URL in a browser:

https://<epo server>:<port>/remote/ext.list

where <epo server> is the name of the server and <port>is the console port (8443 by default.) When prompted enter the username and password for an ePO admin account, and you should get a text list of the installed extensions, their versions, and so on.

Regards -

Joe

As per the document  looks like i can migrate the whole Tree Structure but is there any way to migrate couple devices for testing purpose or migrate only one bucket to test out the policies ?

Hello @mkazi

Thanks for your post.

You can select one machine from the system tree and action and transfer on machine.

Likewise you can export the policies and import it.

To transfer a system looks like i have to register the new EPO server into the OLD EPO server as per the document. My question is - when i do that it won't mess up anything right ? Or is there anything do i need to be concerned with regarding this ?

Hello @mkazi

Thanks for your response.

Ideally, It shouldn't do anything.

I would recommend you to first transfer one machine and then go for the other machines.

Thanks for the reply, really appreciate your help. Also when i transfer a device it will automatically talk to the new EPO or do i need to re deploy the agent from the new EPO ?

It should automatically talk to new epo.  The only time you would need to redeploy agent is if that fails for some reason.
