Moving to a new server and updating to Endpoint Protection

Jump to solution
We are replacing our SBS 2011 Server with a Server 2016 server. We need to move our current McAfee products to the new server and update to Endpoint Protection, but we're unsure of the best way to do this. Our SBS 2011 installation currently has ePO 5.9, MSME 8.5 and VSE 8.8 on the clients. We'd like to move to the latest Endpoint Security. What's the most painless way of getting Endpoint Security up and running on the new server, and deployed to all the PCs (which are running Win 7 or 10)? Should we be migrating the existing policies etc, or starting again from scratch? Thanks very much, Ian Shaw

Thanks for replying. I'd tried reading that before posting, and ended up very confused. It doesn't seem to cover moving to a new server, for example. I didn't know whether to update the old server to Endpont Security, then move over to the new server, or to get the new server running ePO with all the old VSE, then upgrade from there.

I've been advised that the latter is prefereable, so that's what I'm going to attempt.

Refer to PD27567 - it is an ens migration guide that may answer some of your questions.  What version of epo is the new server?  The epo product guide shows how to transfer systems and export policies and tasks.  It is preferred that the epo server is the same version, as well as extensions, when importing policies due to some of the schema changes in the versions of epo.
