New client tasks and forceinstall switch

Jump to solution

Hi,

Just a quick query,  is it possible to use the forceinstall switch when creating a new client task? Is this something that can be added on the "Command line" field?

Many Thanks

From the client task (screenshot), you can upgrade MA.

If want to do force install then please go to system tree->select system->Action->deploy agent and select the option 'Force installation over existing version'.

Hello @Linuxxo

Thanks for your post.

Please refer the below link:

https://docs.mcafee.com/bundle/agent-5.0.6-installation-guide-epolicy-orchestrator/page/GUID-5BA4005...

It's completely depends on you.

But the way you have created the Task seems correct.

Hi Vivs,

I am aware of the KB and switches, but found the examples somehow confusing, since it does mention the process of uninstalling the agent. What I wanted to know is, if the "Force installation over existing version" option can be achieved using the Forceinstall switch on a new task. If yes, what would be the syntax to enter in the Command line field? Would that be FRAMEPKG /FORCEINSTALL ?

Thanks

I believe on an agent install, it may not honor command line switches because there are some inherently imbedded.  However, you can test it out by just adding forceinstall to the command, no / or anything else.
