Ports used for Distributed Repositories Replication Task

Jump to solution

Can you confirm what port is used when distributed repositories replicate their content from Master Repository (ePO server) via server task?  Is it the port based on repository type?

For example, you have ftp repository on server1, then port used for replication is 21 (server1 to ePO server). If you have UNC, then port 445 (server2 to ePO server). If you have http, then port 80 (server3 to ePO server).

If yes, so it is the same ports used by Agents installed on the systems to update virus definition from those repositories?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Ports used for Distributed Repositories Replication Task

I guess this confirms my main concern why I post this - the ePO server replication task (to push contents from ePO to distributed repositories, ftp, unc, http) uses those ports depending on the type of repositories. Correct?

We are just trying to create a network diagram of all the traffic going to and from ePO. Thanks.

Hi @Former Member,

Thanks for your response. I already read that article but could not find any entry for repositories. Are you sure my concern is addressed in the article? If yes, what section from the article as I can only see Super Agent Repository, not Distributed Repository traffic flow.

Thanks.

Hello @arnieos

Thanks for your response.

HTTP-80

FTP-21

SA-8081

UNC will use SMB port

Try looking the below link and refer the steps.

https://docs.mcafee.com/bundle/epolicy-orchestrator-5.10.0-product-guide/page/GUID-5BB59247-7D40-488...

Once you will be able to follow the above steps mentioned in the link your DR will gets set.

What type of repository you are using?

If using http then it needs port 80. If ftp then it needs port 21. If UNC then it needs SMB port. If SA repository then it needs 8081.

Re: Ports used for Distributed Repositories Replication Task

Hi @Hem ,

We will be using ftp, http, and UNC. So during the replication of Master repository and Distributed repository via server task, those ports are used to complete the replication? If I have server1 running ftp repo, it will connect to ePO server via port 21 to replicate what is in the master repository? Same with http (80) and UNC (smb)?

Server1 (ftp) -> 21 -> ePO server

Server2 (http) -> 80 -> ePO server

Server3 (unc) -> smb445 -> ePO server.

Thanks for the response.

Replication goes from ePO to the distributed repository not other way around. It's push not pull job.

I see. So if it is from ePO to repositories, ePO uses those ports (21, 80, 445) to push the contents to repositories during replication server task?

KB66797 lists all the port requirements, what they are used for, protocol (tcp/udp) and direction.

Re: Ports used for Distributed Repositories Replication Task

@cdinet, it does not say anything about distributed repositories, only superagent repository which uses port 8081 to "receive content from the McAfee ePO server during repository replication, and to serve content to client systems." Is it the same for distributed repositories (ftp, http, UNC)?

Thanks.
