Product Deployment/Update Task Succeeds but nothing is actually updated.

Jump to solution

Deploying Policy Auditor 6.5.1 update from ePO server 5.10 the task succeeds and the agent status monitor on the system shows a successful installation, but the product version never actually updates. Restarting the system does not correct the issue.

Sending a removal/uninstall task of Policy Auditor 6.5.0 also succeeds, but it does not actually uninstall anything.

Why is the installation successful, but not actually occurring.

I managed to resolve the issue. The repository list in the McAgee Agent Repository policy did not have the ePO server listed at the top and it was attempting to collect the packages from another location. Not sure why it was reporting a successful installation and no errors, but moving the ePO server to the top of the repository list corrected the issue.

Go through this to see if you can identify anything.  The mcscript_deploy log is the one to look at first.
