Silent install parameters for ePolicy Orchestrator

Jump to solution
Hello, I want to install ePO Orchester 5.10.0 in silent mode via command line. To check if all parameter are correct I start the installaion via cmd but without silent mode. As the setup wizard reachs page "Database Information" I saw that the values for Username / Password is not filled. Only the "SQL authentication" is selected. This is my command: Setup.exe MFSADMINUSERNAME_UE=admin MFSADMINPASSWORD_UE=mcafee MFSADMINVERIFYPASSWORD_UE=mcafee MFSDATABASESERVERNAME=ePO_RGC510 MFSDATABASEPORT=1433 MFSDATABASENAME=ePO MFSDATABASEUSERNAME_UE=sa MFSDATABASEPASSWORD_UE=mcafee AGENTPORT=8080 AGENTSECUREPORT=443 TOMCATSECUREPORT=8443 MFSDATABASEAUTHENTICATION=2 IGNOREPROPINI=1 SKIPAUTOPRODINST=1 MFSKEYSTOREPASSWORD_UE=mcafee12345678 MFSVERIYKEYSTOREPASSWORD=mcafee12345678 ENABLETELEMETRY=0 DISABLEAH=0 I guess that this are the related parameters: MFSDATABASEAUTHENTICATION=2 MFSDATABASEUSERNAME_UE=sa MFSDATABASEPASSWORD_UE=mcafee Is there anything else that I missed? it works If I enter the values manual. Thanke You, Sascha

I wonder if it is due to leaving out the silent parameter, as that would then make it interactive.  Have you tested it with the silent parameter?

I tested it again with the silent parameter "/qs"

The setups starts and I also see the ePO icon some seconds on Desktop but it disappears again and ePO is not installed.

Can I check any helpful logfile?

There should be a log created in the user temp\mcafeelogs folder.  Check also in c:\programdata\mcafee for an epo install log folder

I cheked the log files and find following in "InstallationHistory.log

"msiexec returned 1603 (A fatal error occurred during installation.)"

And in "core-install.log:

test-db:

BUILD FAILED
C:\Program Files (x86)\McAfee\ePolicy Orchestrator\Installer\core\build.xml:1268: The following error occurred while executing this line:
C:\Program Files (x86)\McAfee\ePolicy Orchestrator\Installer\core\build.xml:1719: com.mcafee.orion.core.db.base.DatabaseConnectivityException: Failed to get a connection: Unknown server host name 'EPOEPOSERVER'.. Navigate to /core/config and verify database connection settings

And in "EPO5100-Install-MSI.LOG"

Property(S): ProductToBeRegistered = 1
MSI (s) (B4:0C) [05:52:53:320]: Note: 1: 1708
MSI (s) (B4:0C) [05:52:53:320]: Product: McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator -- Installation operation failed.

MSI (s) (B4:0C) [05:52:53:320]: Windows Installer installed the product. Product Name: McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator. Product Version: 5.10.0. Product Language: 1033. Manufacturer: McAfee LLC.. Installation success or error status: 1603.

Any idea?

Thank You

Failed to get a connection: Unknown server host name 'EPOEPOSERVER'.

Please send me a private message of exactly what you are entering for sql server information - instance, servername, port, etc.

Also, if sql server is on the same server, you need to be sure tls 1.0 is enabled and the sql browser service is running.  The version of sql also needs to support tls 1.2 - tls 1.0 is only needed during the install if on same server as epo.
