System Descriptions in ePO 4.6

Hi,

Is there any reason why system Descriptions do not show up in ePO 4.6.2?

I have about 1K systems that all do not show what their descriptions are. The majority of the systems are Windows 7 with a few xp machines. I have recently moved the machines from a ePO 4.5 server to a new ePO 4.6.2 server,installed 8.8 and 4.6 agent.

Perhaps your not looking in the correct field. Its easy to confuse. If you are looking at the "description" field that field is either set by importing the computer object from AD with a description assigned to it OR manually inside the ePO console (select a system | actions | agent | Set Description). If you are looking at the "System Description" field (a little lower down in the system properties) that is populated by the the properties package sent up by the agent which takes this property from the "description" field on the client.

Sorry for the late reply.

Is there any reason why the description field does not get populated when the computer object is imported from AD? All of the computers have descriptions in AD and once a day ePO is synced with AD.

As far as I know, purely because it wasn't designed to. If this is a feature you'd like to see, please open a PER and hopefully it'll be included in a future release.

After deploying the Hotfix793640 to the machines about 1/3 of the machines now show the correct System Description.

I truly have no idea why - there's nothing in the hotfix as far as I know that could possibly affect this.

At least some of them are OK now
