Tag Catalog > Deployment Tags: What is the purpose of this Subgroup?

Jump to solution

Hello,

I am wondering what is the purpose of the automatically generated 'Deployment Tags' subgroup in the Tag Catalog of ePolicy Orchestrator:

deploymenttags.jpg

As shown in the image above the 'Deployment Tags' Subgroup does not allow you to create New Tags or create New Subgroups, you also can't rename or delete the Subgroup.

As a result in every implementation of ePO I have seen this group sits unchanged and unused.

So I ask, what is the purpose of this Subgroup?

I hope someone can shed some light on this,

Kind regards,

George

Deployment tags

When a deployment task is created, a tag with the task name is automatically created and applied to the systems on which the task is enforced. These tags are added to the Deployment Tags group on the Tag Catalog page every time a deployment task is created and enforced to systems. This group is a read-only group, and tags in this group can't be manually applied, modified, deleted, or used in a criteria configuration to filter systems

Hello!
It only works if i assign the deployment task to a single target. Why should it not be deleteable, when i doesn't use it anymore and it is not assigned to a single system anymore. I think that is a fault and should be resolved.

Those are only created automatically if you are using product deployment section.  If you don't want to see those, then use assigned client tasks instead under the system tree, assigned client tasks.

Those answer is not very helpful. Nevertheless thanks. I think it is better to make a suggestion in the Idea Area. may be it will be changed in a future release.

Agreed this that it make the deployment tag very messy and hard to read/execution. Hope this to be put into consideration for allow the unused deployment tag to be able to remove.
