We're planing to upgrade EPO from 5.9 to 5.10 in a week or 2. One of the things I'd like do while upgrading is to change the installation of EPO from C:\ to D:\. C drive is limited and I now have a large D drive available for expansion, etc.
I'd don't necessarily need to do this during the install, but would would like to know if anyone has done this and/or if this should be done during the install

Hello @robg3381
As per your query changing the drive at the time of upgrade is not possible as it will verify already installed product and then try to upgrade the EPO.
This check’s will be performed in Installed folders, registries and database.
In your scenario I would recommend to first upgrade the EPO, once done you can then move the install directory of EPO to D drive with below options.
Manual Task you need to take backup of EPO installation files and folder and make changes to registries, regenerating certificates, modifying files etc.
With Automatic Task:
Both the cases please do take complete backup from KB66616 .
I sincerely hope this helps!
I would suggest first backing everything up per kb66616 after running a successful snapshot recovery task in epo and ensuring you know the disaster recovery password. If you are not sure of it, you can reset it first in epo server settings, then run the snapshot recovery task, then take your backups. You can then uninstall epo and then reinstall it via recovery snapshot method to your other drive. After that is done, you can then proceed to upgrade.

When you create a deployment task you have the option to choose a install path via command line.
INSTALLDIR="install_path" | Specifies where to install the product files on the system. The installation wizard creates an Endpoint folder at the specified location and installs the product to this folder. Example: INSTALLDIR="D:\Installed Programs" Installs the product modules under D:\Installed Programs\Mcafee\Endpoint Security. By default, product files are installed in the folder C:\Program Files\McAfee\Endpoint Security. |
Thanks. But this seems focused on ENS and endpoint install, which is not what I was asking about. I was asking about EPO installation. On the EPO server.
Good idea is to setup sql to d:\, where is stored all info from events, software packages and etc.
