Wakeup Agent Failed

Agent wakeup from ePO to agent failed, tho I could ping the target system. I could also check and enforce new policies from the agent monitor. What could be causing this error?

Hi ddinz,

If Wakeup call is failing then check Agent General policy settings. Check if "Accept connection only from EPO server" is deselected. Also check if "Enable wakeup call feature is enabled". 

* Is port 8081(wakeup call) port is enabled from EPO server to client machine.

* How many machines are impacted.

* What is the error showing in Server task log

check Server log from <EPO install directory>/DB/logs

Check macmnsvc log from <Programdata>/mcAfee/Agent/logs in client machine.

* What is the EPO version with build number and Agent version.

There are several reasons why that would fail.  @LKS pointed out several.  If the client is on vpn or a natted network, then wakeups will fail - see kb58818.  When you ping the system are you pinging it from the epo server itself?  If the client is in any sub domain, you must append dns suffix for that domain in DNS settings on the nic, as sometimes there are dns issues.  The server log on epo or agent handler should show the specific error and typically that is a standard network error code that you can look up for what that code is.

Wakeups will also fail if there are datachannel errors going on - the server log would also show that.
