build new epo on different server

Jump to solution

Hi,

we have a plan to build a new epo (cluster) on a separate server with the existing epo (in our new DC),
The questions are: 1. which is safer and more practical, which is a new install or epo migration?,

2. if we install a new epo server (assumed) do we also need to install a new TIE server too,

3. and if we install a new one what about our EDR? (Our existing onpremise epo is now integrated with MVISION EDR)

You would probably just need to export your existing policies and assignments for edr and any other products you are running and import them into the new server for clients to retain same policies.  To get the agents talking to the new server, you will need to either transfer systems or reinstall agent from the new server.

Can you explain a little more what you want to do?  You can't restore a non-clustered server to a cluster, that would have to be a fresh install.  You could then transfer systems.  I believe you can move your tie server to the new one, but you might want to post that question in the TIE forum.

When you transfer systems, you can also export your policies and tasks with their assignments and import them into the new server.  I would also export/import the system tree structure.  You can then make sure all policies are assigned before you transfer the systems over, along with any policy assignment rules, system tree sorting, etc.  The product guide (docs.trellix.com) should walk you through that process, as well as KB79283

we have a plan to move our servers from existing DC to new DC, but for the Trellix servers (epo + DB) the manager want to create a fresh new ones not migrate, (and all in a cluster;from the epo server to the DB)

- there's a question regarding the EDR, can we switch the EDR from existing epo to new epo later after the installation finished ?
