ePO 3.5 automatic agent deployment

How do I set automatic deployment? I have Active Directory Discovery task enabled where it detects new machines but how do I automate the deployment? Any help or direction would be helpful. Thanks.

UPDATE: I used "Getting Started Wizard" to setup automated deployment but I get an error during that setup:

"You must load VirusScan 4.5.1 and 7.0 into the ePO repository before the agent can deploy them"

How do I load that into the repository?

You do not really want to deploy agent version 3.5 ? It is very old ... what is your epo server version ?

VSE 4.5 & 7.0 are both obsolete and out of support as is EPO 3.5.

are you perhaps many years out of support and not actually paying for the software anymore?

You need to using at least EPO 3.6.1 to get any meaningfull performance from EPO and VSE 8.5 (8.0 will be obsolete with 8.7 release later this year).

RE: ePO 3.5 automatic agent deployment

Looks like it has VirusScan 8.0 in its repository but it's still looking for 7.0. I believe that it's probably been a while since the company has done any kind of updates on this software (i've been here only few months now). Also, when I called McAfee I got new grant# assigned automatically (i guess the old one expired). So for the upgrade, how do I go about it? Do we have to purchase the license again for the later version of ePO or? Thanks for helping.

RE: ePO 3.5 automatic agent deployment

If you log into the downloads section of the corporate pages https://secure.nai.com/apps/downloads/my_products/login.asp?region=uk&segment=enterprise with your new grant you should see all the software available there (you may also want to setup a user on the corporate support portal so you can obtain patch fixes (as these are often in there rather than the downloads section http://mysupport.mcafee.com/eservice ) you should get automatic update to latest versions of EPO.

Ideally you want to be running at least 3.6.1 patch 3 (build 3.6.1.231) with the VSE 8.5. (but preferrably epo 4.0 if you feel comfortable with this)

What version of VSE do you actually have installed on the workstations/servers? and how big is your install base?

You may find it easier to just dump the old server and start from scratch then push out a new agaent from a new server, it depends on your setup (and to some degree how easy it is for you to install clients using push or AD or third party tools)

RE: ePO 3.5 automatic agent deployment

I have upgraded to ePO 4.0, agent 4.0 and VSE 8.5. I'm still having few issues, like the repository pull over FTP. It's failing every time but HTTP works. Also, when I push agent deployment to for example my laptop, it only installs agent and leaves out VSE 8.5. In the client task I have set the deployment to install agent 4.0 and vse 8.5. What do you think?
