ePO 5.10 CU9 upgrade

Jump to solution

Hello,

We are planning epo 5.10 upgrade to current version. Right now ePO is on CU 9 update and wondering if newer CU's are backward compatible? If so, are we good to go with CU13 right away or should we consider going step by step (9->10...12->13).

Of course we met all requirements like SHA or proper (current) extensions already.

Hi,

if you mean that CU13 contain the previous update the answer is yes. You can upgrade directly to CU13 without step by step.

CU is called as Cumulative updates.
So, you can move from any CU to any,  that's the beauty of the CU updates.

Since, you were in CU9 and before upgrade mandatory take the 6 folders & ePO full DB backup as per KB66616 by stopping ePO services.

As you mentioned you been well aware of the changes from SHA1 to SHA256 is min requirement and you are up to date as per your post.

But still I suggest to go through the CU13 release notes and then perform the upgrade.

The suggestions before updating, stop all ePO services and mandatory close all the windows like command prompt and epo directories and any queries tabs opened through mgmt studio from SQL close those.

Moreover, if then it is failed by any reason, then close the popup of the failure and if you see any error take snippet of the error before closing the POP UP and go to the path as below.

c:\programdata\mcafee\ePolicy Orchestrator\

Copy this complete folder where in this folder you will have 2 sub folders as below
ePOUpdatelogs
InstallLogs

So share the complete epo folder via zip format and open the SR to take this further with logs and screenshot.
