ePO 5.10 Event Parser service refuses to start; connection error?

Jump to solution

We successfully upgraded the ePO to 5.10 on the Dec 11 and two days later the Event Parser service fails to start. I checked the logs and found these entries:

20181213105016 E #06704 EPODAL ePOData_Connection.cpp(600): COM Error 0x800A0E7A, source=ADODB.Connection, desc=Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly installed., msg=Unknown error 0x800A0E7A
20181213105016 E #06704 EPODAL ePOData_Connection.cpp(618): COM Error 0x800A0E7A, source=ADODB.Connection, desc=Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly installed., msg=Unknown error 0x800A0E7A
20181213105016 E #06704 EPODAL ePOData_Connection.cpp(703): COM Error 0x800A0E7A, source=ADODB.Connection, desc=Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly installed., msg=Unknown error 0x800A0E7A
20181213105016 E #06704 EPODAL ePOData_Connection.cpp(373): COM Error 0x800A0E7A, source=ADODB.Connection, desc=Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly installed., msg=Unknown error 0x800A0E7A
20181213105017 E #06704 EPODAL ePOData_Connection.cpp(600): COM Error 0x800A0E7A, source=ADODB.Connection, desc=Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly installed., msg=Unknown error 0x800A0E7A

I suspect there's a DB connection issue but I would like some confirmation. The DB connection test on the /core/config page came back successful.

Thanks!

Have any passwords changed?  Is there any gpo that might be affecting cipher suites on the sql server?  Check kb87731, 89291

Can you go to core/config and reset credentials - does that make any difference?

Check to see if the MS SQL server native client is installed on the epo server also.

If none of those help, please open a ticket so we can investigate this with logs.

Looks like the SQL Native Client was accidentally uninstalled. All good!
