Regarding issue with reading disk I suggest creating new topic, but my experience in such cases is:

1. that you should load (in DEtech's Workspace) first sector of partition (can be read from DEtech's Disk Informtaion option)

2. check if content displayed in Workspce is readable - it should contain readable words, as it is boot record - if not click Decrypt

Above will let you know if you have encrypted partition and/or loaded XML (recovery key) is correct.

First sector of encrypted partition is readable, wether I load xml or not. What I understand is that first few sectors are never crypted. Tried on a fully functionnal system and I can see readable words withotu decrypting.

BTW it contains: "A disk read error occured. BOOTMGR is compressed"

I find something new: while comparing disk informations with EETECH winpe from a functionnal laptop, I see that I have Crypt List Region Count: 0. So I guess I could recover data if I force decrypt. But I'm a bit affraid of doing that because if it don't work, then I guess data will be lost forever.

First of all, you shouldn't start any 'Crypt' operation using DETech/EETech without having proper (sector-by-sector) backup of you disk. I would say more, you should do any recovery attempts on copy.

Now can you show screenshoot of DiskInformation of you affected disk?

Hi. Thanks for your help.

It's hard for me to do a backup, because that disk is a m2 SSD. Maybe I'll buy an adapter, but I'm not sure it's worth because force decrypt is my very last option anyway (I think I tried everything else).

Is there a way to rebuild crypted disk informations manually, as I know which partition is crypted with sectors details ?

I just ordered an external USB disk on amazon. I will try a dd of the disk using Ubuntu live, then I'll try to force decrypt the USB disk via EETECH.

I was able to get my data back.

What I did: I added a region in Edit Disk Crypt State (I got the good sectors range by using the tool on an encrypted working identical laptop)

So now I am able to see my data in file explorer.

The problem is I'm still unable to boot. It seems that disk crypt state data go away when I reboot.

How can I make the change permanent ?

Here is what I would suggest. While you can see the data, back it off with the new commander utility in the EZ Tool. Save the data and then you can play with the drive as you like.

The mission is save the data and forget making anything permanent. That's just me. Congrats on getting to the data, good job!

Yes, I'm copying all the data to a USB disk, then I'll boot on a ubuntu live and do a dd to a file. Then I will try to fix the boot or maybe remove encryption (as remove EE is now avaiable).

Hello.

I've backuped up everything and did a disk image. Now I'm trying to make it boot.

For now I'm stuck with the crypted region data for the disk which reset each time I reboot. The Edit Crypt State button seems to make temporary changes. I'm also confused that Repair MBR button only give choice to set Original MBR, not Crypted MBR as it should.
