RE: Install McAfee 8.5 on Clients from ePo 4.0

Ok thx, so for the record (and for others who may want to know) to Install 8.7i you have to do the following.

1. Download the ZIP Package from McAfee (Name: VSE870LML.Zip)
2. Extract it but keep the ZIP
3. Go to ePo and check in the Package: VSE870LML.Zip
4. Go to Configuration --> Extensions --> New Extensions and add:
VIRUSCAN8700.zip
VIRUSCANREPORTS.zip
which are located in the extracted ZIP File from above
5. Run the "ePOPolicyMigration.exe" (also located on the extracted ZIO File from above) ON the Server where ePo is insatlled
6. Create New Clienttask --> Remove 8.5i + Install8.7i
7. Done

Did I miss anything / did anything wrong?

No need to remove 8.5 : 8.7 is installed on 8.5

most of us would probably say set tasks to remove then install (as you did), the install that initiates a removal doesnt work sometimes and can be a real pain if it fails

Ok Ill keep the removal then..but... I tried it already before your answers and It seems like it only removes 8.5i but don't install 8.7i -_- I have no clue what I have done wrong...

did the machine need a reboot inbetween? you can set this in the agent policies so that it prompts the user

no it didnt need one (at least didnt ask for it), and I configured that it has to ask the user if it nees one and I also tried it on a system where NO McAfee Antivir is/was installed

you set the os selector correctly in the deployment task and you have the version 4 agent?

Well the OS is correct, but I go the 3.6 Agent

edit:

ok downloaded 4.0 and said that it should reinstall ALL Agents, I'll tell you if it worked

Well then, I'll post the correct order of things to do (for usres with similar problems):

HowTo:

0. Download the McAfee Agent 4.0 (MA400P2Win.zip)
0.1 Go to ePo and checkin the Package: MA400P2Win.zip
0.2 Go to ePo to the System Tab and select ALLsystems, click "Install Agents" and choose in the Dropdown Version 4.0 + click "Force Installation on existing agents" (or somethign smiliar)
1. Download the ZIP Package from McAfee (Name: VSE870LML.Zip)
2. Extract it but keep the ZIP
3. Go to ePo and check in the Package: VSE870LML.Zip
4. Go to Configuration --> Extensions --> New Extensions and add:
